Show Synopsis

Plunge into this stunning all-singing, all-dancing, dynamic stage show! This deep-sea pearl of a show is set to make a splash with audiences young and old. The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, The Flaming Lips, Lady Antebellum, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I., and more.


The SpongeBob Musical, Youth Edition Auditions

We are seeking talented young performers ages 8–18 for our upcoming production of The SpongeBob Musical, Youth Edition.

Important Dates:

  • Video Audition Deadline: July 26th at 11:00 PM
  • In-Person Auditions (Limited Availability): August 4th, 6-8pm
  • Callbacks: August 5–6, 6-10pm
  • Mandatory Parent Meeting & First Rehearsal: August 17, 2026
  • Performances: October 9–17, 2026

Who Can Audition?

Youth ages 8–18 are welcome to audition. Participants must be 8 by October 1st and cannot have graduated from high school.

Audition Info:

Video Auditions (Preferred)

We strongly encourage performers to submit a video audition.

Each actor should submit one video that includes:

  • A slate (name, age, desired role, and “I’m auditioning for The SpongeBob Musical“)
  • A 30–40 second vocal selection in the style of the show
  • The required dance audition
  • Please record all auditions HORIZONTALLY
  • Submit video audition using “audition registration form” below

Video auditions are due July 26, 2026 by 11:00 PM.

In-Person Auditions

Limited in-person audition appointments will be available on August 4, 2026 from 6-8pm.

Callbacks

Callbacks will be held in person August 5–6 from 6:00–10:00 PM at the Sandra N. Lloyd Community Center.

Callback invitations will be sent by email between August 2–4. Callback materials will be available on the Riverton Arts website on July 26th.

Rehearsal & Performance Schedule

Mandatory Parent Meeting & First Rehearsal

Rehearsals

August 17 – October 8

This production will be double cast, so rehearsal schedules will vary by role. Rehearsals may be scheduled:

  • Weekday evenings from 6:00–9:30 PM
  • Saturdays from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM

Additional rehearsal time may be required as performances approach.

Conflict Policy

No rehearsal conflicts will be permitted beginning October 1.

Each cast will perform four performances.

Set Strike

One adult from each family is asked to assist with strike following the production. Additional details will be provided at the parent meeting. Due to the use of heavy equipment, no volunteers under age 16 may participate.

Participant Expectations

Production Fee

If cast, a participation fee of $100 will be charged for the first child, with a reduced fee of $50 for each additional child from the same family. Assistance is available, so don’t let this prevent you from auditioning!

Family Volunteer Commitment

Each family is asked to complete 10 volunteer hours per child in the show. Opportunities are available both in person and from home. A refundable volunteer deposit of $100 per family will be charged.

Participation Policy

All cast members are expected to follow the program’s participation and behavior policies.

Audition Requirements

Vocal Audition

Prepare approximately 30–40 seconds of a song that fits the style of The SpongeBob Musical.

Please:

  • Use accompaniment or a  karaoke track (no a cappella singing)
  • Select music that showcases your vocal strengths
  • Record in a quiet, well-lit location

Dance Audition

Learn and record the dance combination provided by our choreographer.

Please:

  • Wear clothing that allows for movement
  • Ensure your full body is visible in the video
