Directors Note
“Though you may wear the best, you’re never fully dressed without a smile”. “The sun will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there’ll be sun”.
These two lines from the show really hit home to me. Especially in this day and age when there seems to be so much negativity and complaining. Little Annie brings light and life to all the world around her. Somehow, deep in the depths of the depression, a ray of light shines out of a raggedy orphanage and lights upon one of the richest men in society, softening his heart and prompting him to adopt her as his own (and kindling his love for his secretary in the process). While the story may be fiction, we can all learn something from Annie and her eternal optimism.
It has been my sincere pleasure to work with the cast and crew to bring this timeless story to life. We need to be reminded that though the sun may set today, tomorrow is filled with new hope, new optimism, new attitudes, new horizons, new deals, and new opportunities.
I hope that, for a couple of hours tonight, we can touch your heart and help you see all that is good in the world and all that you can do to spread that same infectious optimism displayed by our fiery redhead to those around you.
